Major Pain 2 Indee Freedom: The Best of Hed P.E. does a
good job summarizing (hed) p.e.’s recordings for Suburban
Noize, and focuses primarily on material from Back 2 Base
X, Insomnia, and New World Orphans. Even though these three
albums came out long after the heyday of rap-metal and face
paint, they fortunately happen to contain some of the
group’s better singles. On top of the dozen tracks selected
from each of their 2006, 2007, and 2009 LPs, (hed) p.e.
(who, according to interviews, helped to conceptualize this
one) handpicked five songs from their first four outings
and recorded a new track titled "No Rest 4 da Wicked"

With their fusion of Reggae, Rock, Dub and Roots, The Sons
of Zion are a six piece crew hailing from various locations
around Aotearoa. Their live stage presence has captivated
audiences all over the country and their infectious sound
is a mixture of reggae groove with melodic vocals, phat
dubby base lines and metal inspired guitar riftstheres
definitely something for every musical taste within their
original set

Since their 2007 New Zealand Music Month debut, the Sons Of
Zion have continued to build momentum in the NZ music
industry and have stamped their unique sound locally at
festivals such as Parachute, Native Noise Waitangi Day,
Maoriside Tour and the 2008 V8 Super Cars just to name a
few.

Although the group are fairly new on the roots scene
theyve already been scouted out to share the stage with
some of the countrys best loved roots acts including KORA,
KATCHAFIRE, THE BLACKSEEDS, CORNERSTONE ROOTS, HOUSE OF
SHEM, THREE HOUSES DOWN and AARDIJAH.

SOZ have independently produced all of their own original
music in the garage of one of the bands members, Sam
Eriwata, and released their debut self titled EP in Feb
2008. Sons of Zion were the winners of the 2007 Soundsplash
Band competition choosing to launch the EP at the event.

Tim Healey is a freak amongst DJs. Simultaneously pursuing a intense tour
schedule while producing from his Brighton studio and running his label: Giant
Pussy Records.

He has rocked festivals across the globe, having repeatedly toured Europe,
Asia, the US, Australia. He’s played Glastonbury and Reading festivals, Fuji
Rock, Burning Man. He’s supported bands like the Prodigy, and is no stranger
to crowds of up to 1 million, as his last New Year on the Beach in Rio will
testify.

In club land, he’s toured with DJs like David Guetta, Erick Morillo, and
Deadmau5 and he’s played for Cream, God’s Kitchen, Ministry of Sound,
Manumission, Pacha, and head-lined nights in territories as far flung as San
Francisco, South Africa, Singapore, Kazakhstan and Brazil.

His energetic sets are a mash-up of ghetto-house, electro and quality
club-sounds, best summarised by DJ MAG: "Tim Healey blows the speakers apart
with his trashed out sound, the music is as cutting edge as it can be".

Most people will know Tim’s work from when he used to be one half of Coburn,
who pretty much defined the scene that became known as electro house with
their anthem: We Interrupt This Programme (DATA), and their follow up singles
Give me love and Razor Blade.

On top of the incessant touring, Tim, has found the time to remix a
ridiculous pantheon of names from Gwen Stefani & Pharell to K.C & The Sunshine
Band – don’t miss his throbbing remix of the Golden Age by The Asteroids
Galaxy Tour, his deep techno work-out of Hatiras’ Spaced Invader.

2009 saw his rave sampling-monster of a record, Ghetto Blaster, hogging the
top ten on Beatport for several weeks, getting dropped by artists as diverse
as Moby and Dubfire, and his remix (with Deekline) of WTF by Tittsworth feat
Kid Sister and Paserock also hit the breaks top 10 in Beatport.

In autumn 2009, a flood of new singles and mixes hit the shelves: Don’t Smoke
(No.1 Trackitdown.net), Rio, with rising stars Felguk, and Real Smooth with
Tomcraft, featuring DJ Assault (No.1 breaks chart, Beatport). 2010 already has
a series of singles stacked up ready for release, inlcuding The Mexican
(Superstar Recs), with Deekline, and tunes with Calvertron and Nom De Strip,
as Tim launches his new label: Surfer Rosa.

His production skills remain permanently in demand his sample production
pack remains a best-seller at loopmasters, and he’s worked with artists across
the spectrum from pop, rock, hip-hop and dance, and has turned in remixes for
most major labels. Never shy from pushing boundaries, Tim has also just turned
in the official dub-step remix of Tomcraft’s Loneliness, out in February 2010

2010 sees Tim cementing his position as tastemaker extraordinaire. If you

Release Notes

Since forming in 2006, heroes for hire have played with everyone from
the ataris and mest to all time low and set your goals, as well as
touring nationally with the secret handshake and will soon commence a
national tour with fireworks. Most recently heroes for hire were
selected as the sole local act to appear on the sydney leg of the 2010
soundwave festival, with their single ‘bright lights in paradise’ sure
to be a big hit. Their long-awaited debut, life of the party was
recorded at electric sun studios (house vs hurricane, built on secrets)
and mastered by alan douches at west side in new york, the twelve-track
affair is sure to appeal to fans of pop-punk stalwarts blink 182 and new

1814 are an 8-piece Reggae Band whose members live in the
hills surrounding the beautiful Whangaroa Harbour and
nearby town of Kerikeri, Northland.

Patu Colbert (guitar/vocals), formed the band with sons:
Shaun (drums) and Jimmy (bass), in 2004. “We started out
supporting various community events and festivals around
Northland and now travel around the country performing our
take on kiwi flavoured reggae,” said Patu. As the
popularity of the band grew, so has the members which now
include, Darren Katene (lead vocals) Katherine Te Haara
Atama (vocals) Reuben Heger (sax) Erana Jones (keys) and
Maihi Pinker (vocals).

The name, 1814, was taken from the year the Gospel arrived
at Oihi, in the Bay Of Islands. Missionary, Samuel Marsden,
held the first sermon there on Christmas Day, 1814. This is
the inspiration behind delivering a message of peace, love
and unity to all people throughout the world.

Jah Rydem, the bands debut Album has been well received
around the country. Patu describes the sound as having an
up beat, funky, rnb, roots reggae feel to it. Song
writing for the album was shared between band members with
Darren writing lyrics for several of the songs.

“If you love skankin, you’ll love the live show’s, full of
energy, up beat grooves, wicked sax and sweet soulful
vocals,” said Patu.

The band plays at various gig’s and festivals throughout
the year and has had the privilege of sharing the bill with
some of the countrys top acts: Katchafire, House of Shem,
3 Houses Down, Cornerstone Roots, Unity Pacific, Ardijah,
Ruia Aperahama, Whirimako Black, Che Fu, Moana and the
Tribe, Spacifix and International Guitar player, Billy TK
Jnr to name a few.

So, if your into the irie sounds of reggae music, get out
and catch the band at a show near you this coming summer.

Jah Rydem is the band’s debut album and was recorded at
York Street Studios Auckland, and produced by Billy
Kristian in the Far North and features 11 original tracks.
